Despite the fact that he was kicked off the X Factor last weekend, Jamie “Afro” proved that he was still very popular with the general public when he performed in Rochdale yesterday.

The singer – who was making his first public appearance since leaving the reality show – was cheered on by crowds of adoring fans when he appeared in the city to sing and turn on the The Butt’s Christmas Lights.

But after coming head-to-head with Lloyd Daniels in last weeks show, Jamie reckons he would still be in the competition if Simon, and the programme’s producers, had let him sing better songs.

During an interview with the News Of The World the afro-headed singer said that he was regularly given the wrong tunes to sing as X Factor bosses always struggled to come to terms with his identity as an act.

“You saw how well Sex On Fire by the Kings of Leon went down in my audition” Jamie explained.

“A lot of people who watch the show might not have known the song, because it’s quite edgy, and modern – but it went down brilliantly.

"But they wouldn’t let me do a similar song again. I wanted to do Mr Brightside by the Killers in the rock week but they vetoed it, saying nobody would have heard it… But that was the point – I wanted to try something that not everyone would have heard of, rather than going for the safe option.”

Um, is it just us or is Mr Brightside a pretty famous song which most of us have actually heard of? Anyway, Jamie then went on to conclude that being a “rock singer” was his ultimate downfall:

“I just don’t think they knew what to do with me because there had never been a rock singer on the show before…In the end I wasn’t miserable, but I had lost confidence up there."

Don’t blame the songs Jamie, never blame the songs! Anyway enough of that – who would you like to see getting booted off X Factor this weekend?

As Stacey Solomon left the X Factor house yesterday - along with most the of the other remaining finalists - waiting fans outside the London pad decided to ask the Essex singer whether or not she was planning to go on a date with Olly Murs, who she’s been rumoured to secretly romancing.

Unfortunately Stacey didn’t divulge any juicy morsels of gossip on the subject, moreover she actually looked slightly bemused, shrugged then went on her merry way. Shame.

Anyway one X Factor contestant who we didn’t spot leaving the shared house yesterday was Danyl Johnson who’s currently said to be at war with his mentor Simon Cowell over his song choice for Saturday’s show.

Apparently the drama teacher walked out of a rehearsal earlier this week after he was given Praying For Time to sing during the Wham! themed show.

After a brief tantrum, Cowell has now let Danyl sing Careful Whisper instead but in the process of letting him switch songs Danyl has allegedly been given a stern telling of by Simon for his “arrogant” attitude. Quite right too...

Right before they became the most talked about people in the nation (probably), cheeky twins John and Edward Grimes recorded this video of themselves singing a Backstreet Boys classic in order to showcase their “talents”.

Get ready to hear some very high pitch squawking….

Last night we ran into former X Factor finalists Kandy Rain out and about in London. What’s that? Oh don’t be silly, of course you remember them, they were the ones that Cheryl had a dig at for dressing like strippers on the first show even though she wore pretty much the same outfit a week later for her own performance, remember now?

So anyway, the girls had just spent the evening at the premiere of Zac Efron’s new movie and when we spotted them they were desperately trying to hail a cab, but even though they wanted to head home they were more than happy to stop and answer a few questions.

The final eight X Factor contestant are set to earn £100,000 each when the reality show goes on a nationwide tour this February – the lucky things.

Apparently producers of the programme have decided that only the final eight contestants will appear on the tour (which is said to be the most lucrative yet) including; Lucie Jones, Jamie Archer, Lloyd Daniels, John and Edward Grimes, Stacey Solomon, Danyl Johnson, Olly Murs and Joe McElderry.

That means Kandy Rain, Rikki Loney, Miss Frank and Rachel Adedeji have all been cut-out of the very profitable venture. Shame.

All the solo singers are expected to take home around £100,000 each, except for Jedward – who’ll both earn just under that amount each.

And on top of that contestants can also potentially earn between £5,000 and £20,000 each time they make a personal appearance, which means by the end of the tour they’re pretty much set up for life. *Sighs with jealously*.

Last night the Westlife boys all headed to Grafton Street in Dublin to turn on the Christmas lights.

Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and Kian Egan joined their manager Louis Walsh at the annual ceremony.

Unfortunately for Westlife, for some unknown reason the crowd insisted on chanting Jedward during the event even though they weren’t scheduled to appear.

Meanwhile, John and Edward were allowed a brief trip home yesterday during which they met Westlife and were left totally and utterly gobsmacked when the boy band asked them for an autograph:

“John and Edward were shell-shocked when the Westlife boys asked for their autographs on the plane. Talk about a role reversal.”

After umming and ahhing for the past few days Simon Cowell has finally settled on a theme for this weeks X Factor and it’s Wham!

The final few acts will have to choose which classic 80’s track they want to sing during the inevitable cheese fest.

There’s Club Tropicana, which is a personal favourite of ours, there’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and of course the Wham Rap!, which has Jedward’s name written all over it.

Apparently they’ll also be given the option of doing a George Michael song so Stacey and Danyl will have to battle it out for Careless Whisper, or actually maybe Lloyd will get that, although to be honest we actually forgot he was still on the show.

All of the remaining X Factor finalists (well all but Olly Murs anyway) were spotted leaving the X Factor house in North London a short while ago.

And with only a few weeks to go until the grand finale there was smiles all round from the final six who were clearly happy to have made it through yet another week after Jamie got the boot last night.

But the pressures still on and although Olly Murs is still the favourite to win he’s closely followed by Stacey Soloman and Joe McElderry, in fact it really is anybodies game, well anybody except Lloyd, we all know he’s going next week right?

Last night Jamie Archer and Lloyd Daniels were both singing from survival after they received the lowest number of public votes.

Archer performed the Queen classic ‘The Show Must Go On’ while Daniels opted for ‘Last Request’ by Paolo Nutini.

Simon and Cheryl both saved their own acts Louis sent home Jamie and the deciding vote when to Dannii. We were convinced she was going to send home the Fro, as she’s still supposedly fuming with Simon for the role he had to play in Lucie’s exit last week, but she didn’t, instead Dannii chose Lloyd so just like all previous weeks it went to deadlock and Jamie was given the bad news that his time was up.

After the result Archer said:

“I'm gutted, I really am – but chin up and I hope I have a bright future. I just want to thank everyone who supported me and it's not the end, it's the beginning.”

Or the beginning of the end eh!

Pandemonium has descended upon the X Factor house – or at least that’s what the News Of The World claims today anyway.

Apparently Simon Cowell has been called in for “crisis talks” about how to look after the “out of control” housemates who have been “running riot” in their north London pad. Some housemates, it’s claimed, are said to be at “breaking point”.

Anxious of a SuBo style breakdown, Simon is now said to be taking desperate steps to rectify the problem.

According to the report events reached a head earlier this week after cheeky twins John and Edward were caught giggling together while watching porn *vomits*, and two of the housemates, it’s been discovered, having been exchanging saucy texts.

Oh we wonder who that could be?! *coughs Stacey and Olly coughs*. A show insider commented:

"Simon knows he has a duty of care to these youngsters and is determined to stamp the problems out NOW."

Consequently Cowell has decided to shake-things up next year by dividing the sexes into two different houses, and he’s even considering hiring a no-nonsense matron to sort the contestants out.

Saucy text messages and porn eh? What a crazy bunch…

If, like us, you were watching X Factor last night and you thought you saw a random man running across the stage during Jedward’s performance – don’t worry you weren’t having a hallucination.

The random man actually turned out to be DJ Calvin Harris who, having been in the studio anyway to appear on Xtra Factor, decided to have a bit of a laugh by invading the show’s set during Jedward’s rendition of Under Pressure with a pineapple on his head.

Unsurprisingly he was promptly chucked out by security. On Twitter last night, following the incident, Calvin said:

"Was just thrown out of X Factor for jumping on stage during Jedward with a pineapple on my head."

Hilarious. Anyway, speaking of X Factor after yesterday’s show have you got any thought’s as to who you want to get chucked out of the competition tonight?

God, those X Factor boys are such a hoot aren’t they?! After posting their cover version of Cheryl Cole’s Fight For This Love online last month, Danyl Johsnon and Jamie Archer have gone all Live Lounge again with a very special rendition of a Backstreet Boys classic.

Oh to be in that crazy X Factor house, eh?

From broken hands to broken ribs – one thing after another just keeps on going wrong for this year’s X Factor contestants. And last night the boys and girls were struck with yet more bad luck after a burst water main in the street left the contestants with no running water.

Fortunately though producers of the show provided the remaining contestants with stacks of bottled water to wash their grubby bodies with – which is probably not going to be the easiest thing for Olly Murs to do, seeing as he's just injured his hand.

Still, they all looked like they were doing just fine nevertheless when we spotted them leaving their home a few hours ago.

Meanwhile sources claim that controversial twins John and Edward Grimes were booed by audience members at a Backstreet Boys gig in London earlier this week.

Apparently fans started jeering when the two were spotted among the crowd at the O2 arena  - but it’s thought that members from the Bin The Twins campaign (which has been set up to get the brothers kicked off the talent show) were behind the cruel chants.

"Everyone started whispering, 'It's them',” a source said.

“Then a loud boo went up and the poor lads looked really miffed. Still, I suppose they're used to it by now."

Oh how humiliating…

Has anyone else noticed that this years crop of X Factor finalists seem to be a particularly unlucky bunch?

First Joe McElderry was rumoured to have broken his rib, then came the ridiculous tambourine incident, but worst of all Olly Murs has now broken a bone in his hand!

Apparently the accident happened when he was pounding a punch bag in the gym yesterday. But don’t worry its not that serious as he’s only broken a small bone in one finger. A spokesman for the show confirmed:

“Olly has a boxers fracture in his right hand after hitting a punch bag in the gym area at the contestants house on Tuesday afternoon”

“He has a cast on his hand to prevent further damage, but will be performing as usual at the weekend. He’s confident it won’t affect his hip swivelling moves!”

Hang on, it won’t affect his what?

X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes left the X Factor house earlier today looking slightly solemn as they made their way to the Dominion theatre for rehearsals ahead of Saturday’s show along with Danyl Jones, Lloyd Daniels, Jamie Archer, Stacey Solomon, Joe McElderry.

Meanwhile despite the furore surrounding the twins stay in the competition after last weekend’s showdown with Lucie Jones, sources have revealed that the Irish brothers have been bombarded with offers of deals with kids TV channels.

Producers of X Factor have said that they’ve been inundated with deals for the pair to work on such networks as Disney, Nickelodeon and even the BBC.

So, if the pair finally get booted of X Factor this Sunday at least they’ll have a career back-up plan then…

On Sunday night Simon Cowell made the controversial decision of letting the X Factor vote go to deadlock, which resulted in Lucie Jones getting the boot from the show *GASPS*

Three days have now passed since then and the public backlash is beginning to die down, but there is one person that is still fuming and that’s Lucie Jones’ mentor Dannii Minogue.

The X Factor judges haven’t spoken since Sunday's show and Dannii is convinced that Simon is just keeping the twins in to help boost his own acts. On Monday she wrote on her Twitter:

“If one of Simon's acts is in bottom two with Jedward - will he go to deadlock????”

Good question Dannii, will it go to deadlock Simon? Oh what are we talking about, of course it won’t.

Earlier today we were outside ITV studios in London taking pictures of such celebrities as JLS and The Saturdays, when all of a sudden a van wheeled it’s way in front of us brandishing the slogan:

“The X Factor is turning into the Deadlock Factor farce Mr Coward! Singers need not apply…"

Now we know that Simon Cowell’s decision on Sunday night to let the public decide on Lucie Jones & Jedward’s fate was a controversial one, and one which provoked a strong reaction from the general public, but this really is ridiculous.

Has this person ever heard of a strongly worded letter, or perhaps an angry phone call? Each to their own we suppose...

Last night the seven remaining finalists huddled around the front door of the X Factor house to bid a fond farewell to Lucie Jones after she was voted off the show on Sunday night.

Earlier that day we caught up with Stacey Soloman and Jamie Archer popping to their local supermarket to pick up some lunch, while on the other side of town Olly Murs and Joe McElderry were spotted leaving rehearsals.

Speaking of rehearsals, we hear that Simon has decided to cancel plans for a dance themed show this Saturday and has chosen to go for a Queen themed week instead. Rumour has it Danyl Johnson will be singing We Are The Champions but other then that reports are still hazy.

Right, lets play a little game and guess who is going to sing what, who knows, maybe we’ll get it right…

So already know what Danyl Johnson is probably singing but what about Jamie Archer? We think he'd suit Another One Bites The Dust, while Olly Murs could probably pull off Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

LLoyd Daniels is a toughie because his voice isn't strong enough for any Queen songs so we're going to take a wild stab in the dark and say he'll do Don’t Stop Me Now, Joe McElderry on the other hand can sing anything so The Show Must Go On is a must and for Stacey Solomon we're thinking Somebody To Love.

Oh wait, we almost forgot Jedward (how did that happen?!) who should really be given the honour of Bohemian Rhapsody, but we wont hold our breath!

Louis Walsh had a big grin on his face as he left the X Factor studio in London last night but then he spotted something, or should we say someone, and he raised his arms and screamed in horror.

What happened? Who was it?? Why did Louis look so scared??? Stay tuned for all these answers and so much more…

Last night was a rather dramatic night on X Factor and after performances from the Black Eyed Peas and Leona Lewis it was results time *takes a deep breath*

It was left to Dermot O’Leary to reveal that Jedward and Lucie Jones had both received the lowest number of public votes so they would both be singing for survival.

While we were still reeling with shock that Lloyd Daniels had escaped the sing off after his rubbish performance, a barefoot Lucie appeared on stage and belted out the power ballad One Moment In Time. Next it was Jedwards turn to impress with their unique rendition of Robbie Williams’ track Rock DJ and then it was decision time.

Louis saved his act and Dannii did the same, Cheryl sent home the twins leaving it to Simon to cast the deciding vote. He said that he didn’t think either acts could win but he’d rather see Jedward perform again next week because their entertaining, but on the other hand Lucie is a better singer. Oh decisions, decisions, so what did he decide? He decided to send it to deadlock of course and a tearful Lucie was sent home.

Was Simon wrong to send it to deadlock? Or is it fair that the public decide if the judges can’t? Are you glad the twins will be performing next week? Or are you gutted that Lucie has gone?

Throughout this series of the X Factor, Simon Cowell has been nothing but critical about John and Edward’s various performances on the show.

However last night after the pair sang a hilarious rendition of Ghost Busters (which really was so funny that we actually fell off the sofa laughing – but then again that may have had something to do with that whole bottle of wine we’d just consumed), the tough-talking reality judge conceded that the pair were actually: “sort of good”.

Well we’re not sure if we agree with you on that Simon, however they were highly entertaining. Now Jedward aside, who was your favourite on yesterday’s show and who do you reckon will be getting the boot tonight?

Simon Cowell’s ex-girlfriend, and close aide on the X Factor, Sinitta has slammed Cheryl Cole for criticising contestant Danyl Johnson, and has warned her that she runs the risk of driving him to a break-down just like Susan Boyle.

Speaking about Cheryl’s comments on last week’s show, the 80s popstar said that Danyl has been unable to cope with the recent criticism about his personality. In an interview with the News of The World she said:

“It’s outrageous for Cheryl to target him personally. It’s out of order and just mean. There is nothing to justify these comments that he’s not likeable, that he’s not a nice person, that he’s a horrible guy.”

“Not everyone can turn you on and be your favourite, but to show your personal distaste just because you don’t like the person they are is quite hideous. It’s not fair.”

Sinitta then added:

“He (Danyl) had all the Susan Boyle-type hype and people were going crazy about him. Then he’s had to put up with being vilified and told he’s more hated than Hitler.”

Um, we think that’s a bit extreme Sinitta but we get your point. So, was Cheryl wrong to voice her opinions about Danyl when he was in a visibly depressed state, or do you think Sinitta should just mind her own bloody business? Discuss...

John & Edward Grimes have officially taken over the X Factor and bookies are quaking in their boots at the prospect of a massive pay out on the twins original odds of 150/1.

We still can’t quite get our head around their ridiculous level of popularity but we suppose we should just accept it because it shows now signs of slowing down.

Yesterday we caught up with the boys everybody is talking about popping to a local supermarket to pick up some essentials after a long day at rehearsals ahead of tomorrow nights show.

Speaking of tomorrow nights show, do you want to know what Jedward will be performing? And we say ‘performing’ because it can hardly be described as singing can it?! So the theme is songs from the movies and we’ve heard from our well-placed source that Louis Walsh’s only remaining act will be performing Ghostbusters!

Meanwhile Olly Murs will be shaking his thang to Twist and Shout (oh dear!), Danyl Johnson will be massacring Purple Rain and Jamie Archer will be showing us his softer side with Unchained Melody.

Joe McElderry will be singing the Lion King classic Circle of Life, Stacey Solomon will no doubt impress with Son Of A Preacher Man and as for Lloyd and Lucie we’re still waiting to find out but of course we’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

Some X Factor rejects find gig work hard to come by once they make their exit from the hit reality show. Rachel Adedeji, however, seems to have singing work flooding in.

A few hours ago we spotted the former X Factor star keeping Carphone Warehouse employees in Cheshire entertained with a few tunes as they polished off their lunch in their canteen.

Anyway, meanwhile in a radio interview this morning Rachel said that the X Factor isn’t really about talent anymore. Isn’t it?

"I don't know if X Factor is about talent anymore to be honest - seriously," she said. Talking about John and Edward, she added:

"John and Edward don't have to be good singers, what the hell. Listen, they enjoy what they do and they want to be popstars."

So who would Rachel like to see win the competition then? Well Joe apparently:

"He's my favourite," she said. "Week after week he's proper going for it. He just wants to do this and is one of the most positive people in the house. I love Joe."

Oh that’s a coincidence because so do we. But what about you, who would you like to see winning X Factor?

Despite the fact that Joe McElderry looked completely fine when we spotted picking up some coffees near the X Factor house earlier today, Stacey Solomon has revealed that she accidentally caused the young singer to break one of his ribs after slipping on a can of deodorant in their shared pad.

Apparently Essex girl Stacey was playing a prank on Olly Murs which went hideously awry. Stacey explained:

"This week me and Lucie decided to prank Olly but Olly was in a bad mood.

"We went downstairs with a bottle of water and the plan was that Lucie would open his pants and I would pour the water, but Lucie chickened out last minute because Olly was getting angry saying 'get out of my room'.

"So we went up to his bedroom and because he hates mess we moved his blanket, we put his shoes on his bed, toothpaste, hair gel and hair spray.

"Then he started running up the stairs so we ran and ran and I fell up the stairs and Joe slipped on a can of deodorant on to the floor and broke his rib."

Well let’s just hope it doesn’t affect his performance on Saturday night then!

When we caught up with JLS a short while ago they were leaving the GMTV studios in London after performing their new single, Everybody In Love.

During the show they also had a quick chat about this years current X Factor contestants and despite previously backing Olly to win they said they wouldn’t put it past Jedward to pip him to the post. Marvin said:

“They can definitely win it, of course. I mean the guys are great. We met everyone on Sunday obviously, and they were really cool guys, really nice guys actually, and I wish them the best of luck.”

Once JLS were finished at GMTV they hopped in their car and headed across town to Sony for a question and answers session. Busy, busy, busy…

Last week Danyl found himself signing for survival against Miss Frank when he received the lowest number of public votes following a near perfect performance. But this week, after he sang off key and looked like he didn’t want to be there anymore the public decided to reward him with the majority vote! Can you believe it? How ridiculous is that?!

If reports are to be believed then Danyl managed to bag a 35% share of all votes, with Jedward coming a close second, Olly third and Lucie fourth. But most shocking of all was the fact Joe McElderry narrowly missed the sing off.

We’re actually stunned it’s all just too ridiculous for words! Will Joe, who clearly has one of the best voices in the competition, be singing for survival next week? Can Danyl hang on to the top spot? Or could the twins really win? It looks like its anybodies game.

You're never going to guess what the Cheeky Girls said when they were recently asked for their opinion on X Factor favourites John and Edward, they said:

“John and Edward are great for entertainment but they don't have any bigger artistic value. I'm not sure they are going to be able to establish themselves and survive in the music industry… they won't win it.”

Does anybody else think the Cheeky Girls might be a little bit worried that they finally have some rivals?

Following JLS’ successful performance of their new single Everybody In Love on X Factor last night (if you missed it click here) the boys hit the town to celebrate.

When we caught up with them they were leaving Whiskey Mist looking a little bit worse for wear in the early hours of the morning, nothing new there!

Since returning to the X Factor stage JLS have decided they’re now backing Olly Murs to win. Backstage last night Olly told last years runners-up:

“I am so envious of you guys. You're living the dream” to which Aston replied, “Don't worry. You'll be doing this when you leave X Factor” and we must admit we’re inclined to agree.

Last night it was third time unlucky for Rachel Adedeji and after signing for survival against Lloyd Daniels, who could barely hit a note as he was suffering from a sore throat, the judges failed to decide who to send home and when it went to deadlock Rachel got the boot.

Are you glad she’s gone? It did seem as though her days were numbered right from the start and for some unknown reason the public just failed to warm to her.

Now they just need to get rid of Lloyd Daniels, Jamie Afro and the twins and then the real competition can begin!
