When Lily Allen was trying to make a name for herself in the music industry, she became one of the first artists to realise the potential of social networking sites, such as MySpace, to help publicise her work.

And over the years the singer has used her MySpace blog, and more recently her Twitter profile, to communicate with her fans, answer her critics, and generally keep afloat of what people think of her.

But now the Not Fair songstress has decided to give up Twitter  - on her last entry on the micro-blogging site on September 28th she told her followers: “I am a neo-ludite, goodbye.”

And that was the last anyone in the Tweet community heard from Lily Allen. It’s also been suggested that the singer has now given up on her MySpace, she’s stopped checking her email and she’d binned her BlackBerry.

Apparently her decision comes after her new boyfriend, Sam Cooper, recently complained:

“I want to spend some time with you. Do we have to have one and a half million people in the room with us?”

Still, we find it hard to believe that Lily would abandon Twitter and MySpace so easily – do you think she’ll cave in and start Tweeting any minute now? Or seeing as she’s now quitting the music industry, do you think this’ll be a permanent decision?
