Shockingly Pete Doherty somehow managed to avoid being sent to prison when he appeared at Gloucestershire Magistrates Court earlier today despite the fact that the last time he appeared in the same court he was found to be in possession of a staggering 13 wraps of heroin.

Instead of jail time, Pete was let off with a slap on wrist and an order to pay a £750 fine as well as a further £85 in costs. The Babyshambles frontman was arrested in Gloucestershire Magistrates Court last month – following a hearing about a separate offence – after the wraps of heroin allegedly “fell out of his pocket”.

Earlier today the judge at Gloucestershire Magistrates Court said:

"Either this was sheer stupidity or a ploy to get more publicity."

To which his defense replied:

"He was not 'Mickey taking', he had just forgotten the drugs were in one of his many coats."

Anyway, after the hearing we caught up with the unsurprisingly smug-looking Pete Doherty heading back to his home, completely scott free…

What exactly does this eejit have to do to get finally sent to Prison?! Can't help wondering if a regular member of the public, if convicted all the times that pete has, would end up behind bars.
