The incident occurred after Baldwin accused a paparazzo of “attacking” him as he left his apartment block in Manhattan yesterday. Police were called to the scene to question the photographer who’d been asking the star about his rather random trip to the hospital earlier this week.
And in case you hadn’t heard about his little visit to the hospital – apparently Baldwin had been rushed to an emergency room in NY a few days ago after his daughter had found him in an “unresponsive” state. However the 30 Rock Star – who’s due to co-host the Oscars next month – was released just an hour after being taken into the medical facility.
The star’s agent claimed yesterday that there had been a “misunderstanding” but police sources actually say that Baldwin had had a 'bad reaction' after taking the sedative Ambien.
Either way though, it seems as though Baldwin has been particularly angered by the overblown publicity surrounding the incident which he thinks has been orchestrated by his ex-wife Kim Basinger. A friend of his told the press:
'This is another example of Kim's sickness. Alec came back from the hospital and there were cameras outside his house at 2 a.m. Gee, I wonder how they found out?'
Anyway after the “attack” yesterday no arrests or charges were made against either the photographer or Baldwin (who was in turn accused of “attacking” the paparazzo) and in the end everyone went on their merry way. Good times…
