Earlier in the week it was widely reported that Simon had popped the question to Mezhgan and she’d said yes, but there’s been no official statement and they appear to be doing what they can to downplay the rumours.
Sadly, Simon’s mum obviously didn’t get the ‘let’s not tell the whole world we’re engaged just yet’ memo as she’s been speaking to papers and telling them how happy she is that her little boy is finally settling down. She said:
“I thought I would have departed from this world before Simon got married. I'm so happy he's committed to this girl. I think turning 50 made him realise it was time to get married and start a family.
“I’m shocked. I was the first person he called to say he was getting engaged. He knew he had to tell Mother first. I said, ‘You’re joking, aren’t you?’ But no, he said he wasn’t – and I’m looking forward to wearing a hat to the wedding.”
OMG can you imagine the wedding?! If his recent 50th birthday bash is anything to go by we’re guessing it’s going to be a somewhat lavish affair.
