Last night in Hollywood there was a little low-key award ceremony taking place called the Oscars, you might have heard of it, it’s kind of a big deal.

Kathryn Bigelow made history as the first woman to win an Academy Award for Best Director for The Hurt Locker, which also took home five other gongs.

Meanwhile, Kathryn’s ex-husband James Cameron had a slightly less successful evening when his 3D epic Avatar only managed to win three of the smaller awards.

Other notable winners included Jeff Bridges, Best Actor for Crazy Heart and Sandra Bullock, Best Actress for The Blind Side.

Coincidentally, Sandra also won the Worst Actress award at the Razzies on Saturday night for her role in All About Steve and while most stars are keen to snub the alternative ceremony, which mocks Hollywood’s worst movies, Sandra was more than happy to collect her gong.

Last night she even joked, “It’s the great equalizer. No one lets me get too full of myself” - What a sport eh!
