After the world’s least shocking celebrity news story (possibly ever) hit the front pages of the tabloids yesterday, Joe told his followers on Twitter:
'Hey guys, thank you so much for your amazing and overwhelming support. You’re all fantastic! x'
Meanwhile a host of celebrities have also congratulated Joe for finally admitting he’s gay including Simon Cowell, who said he was “thrilled”, and Alan Carr who said:
"Good on Joe McElderry coming out!! I feel like i should send him a starter pack or something."
Some celebrities were less supportive though; rapper Professor Green echoed the sentiments of many when he sarcastically quipped:
"So Joe McElderry admitted he's gay... I'd just like to admit to everyone that I'm white."
After he came out, Joe happily told The Sun:
'I’m feeling good about it, it's liberating. Now I can just get on with my life,'
