The footballer was reportedly ‘baffled and upset’ to learn that 38-year-old Lynne has been claiming £164 a week benefits, along with £68 income support and £96 tax credits.
A source close to Becks – pictured watching LA Galaxy play the New York Red Bulls on Saturday afternoon – said:
“David had no idea Lynne was on benefits. He bought her the house she lives in. He has always provided for her and her children.
“He has given her money and anything she needs, so he is clearly baffled and really quite upset.”
Beckham bought Lynne a £250,000 four-bedroom house in Essex 12 years ago despite the fact their relationship has always been strained because he doesn’t approve of her estranged husband.
