The singer has claimed the show will be similar to the Disney Channel hit, which stars Miley Cyrus as a schoolgirl with a secret double life as a popstar. Mel revealed:

"I've written my own sitcom that's just been picked up by Nickelodeon that I start at Christmas. I'm the star of it. It's a bit like Hannah Montana, but the black version."

But should we believe her? Because it seems as though Mel’s been telling a few porky pies of late. Recently Mel also claimed she was going on tour with Janet Jackson this autumn, but sources close to Ms. Jackson quickly dismissed this suggestion as pure fantasy.

Then in a recent interview Mel alleged that she was due to star in an upcoming Broadway version of Legally Blonde. However the show’s producers strenuously denied this claim as a stinking fat lie.
