It’s the most expensive film in Australia’s history, costing around £86 million to make, but Tourism Australia are hoping that Nicole Kidman’s latest film, called Australia (funnily enough) was worth the money.

The movie is currently under immense pressure to deliver badly-needed tourism dollars to the country, which has suffered from falling visitor number for months now.

Now, Tourism Australia are hoping that the Baz Luhrmann directed epic will put the country back into the spotlight around the globe. The movie, which also stars Hugh Jackman, sees Nicole playing an uptight English aristocrat who journeys to northern Australia during the Second World War to find her husband. Whilst there she encounters Hugh, who plays a rough cattle baron who refuses to play by her rules. No prizes for guessing what happens next.

The country’s tourist organisation has already launched a massive £17m global advertising campaign featuring scenes from the film. But regardless of the money spent on the film or ad campaigns, would Nicole's withered mug attract you to visit Oz? We think not.
