Kerry Katona’s Manic Meltdown
We don’t think we’ll ever forget watching Kerry Katona’s shambolic interview on This Morning, it really was car crash telly at it’s very best and we’re going to go out on a limb and say it was probably the most shocking TV appearance of the year. After the show a defensive Kerry claimed she’d been stitched up and blamed her slurred speech on prescription medication. Unfortunately nobody believed her and Kerry’s bad luck didn’t end there but we’ll fill you in on that in the next two instalments of The Year That Was.
Pauline Fowler Has Cancer
More sad news, on a cold Sunday morning in October the papers revealed 65-year-old Wendy Richards, who used to play Pauline Fowler in Eastenders has terminal cancer.
The X Factor Battle Begins
Yes, yes we know X Factor didn’t start in October but that is when Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue whittled their final few X Factor hopefuls down to just twelve acts and Saturday nights live shows begun.
Rather interestingly when it all kicked off there were just two firm favourites, Laura White (remember her?) and Alexandra Burke and we all know what happened there.
Jodie Marsh Is Officially Vile
Just when we thought Jodie Marsh couldn’t possibly sink any lower she decided to go gay. Now don’t get us wrong, we don’t have a problem with lesbians, what we do have a problem with is people pretending to be gay for media attention. Grrrrr, it really makes us angry.
In fact if she wasn’t so shockingly grisly we wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of writing about her. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, she is so vile it’s impossible to ignore her!
Womanzier, Womanizer, Oh You’re A Womanizer
There's only so many times we can’t write about Britney’s incredible comeback without boring ourselves to death and if we remember correctly her appearance on X Factor next month was pretty big news so we’re not going to go into too much detail about the fact she stormed the charts with Womanizer in October, we'll save that for tomorrow.
Madonna & Guy Are Officially Divorcing
After months of speculation Madonna’s spokesperson officially confirmed the couple will divorce and we don't mind telling you we were shocked to our very core. Seriously, we never saw that one coming *rolls eyes*
On Again, Off Again, On Again, Off Again
Back in October we heard a super juicy rumour that Jenn and John had been spotted kissing and hugging in New York. Unfortunately there were no pictures to back up the claims so we weren’t sure what to make of them. However a couple of month's on and we know they are definitely back together and fingers crossed, stronger then before.
So what does 2009 hold for Jenn and John? Will there be marriage and babies in 2009? Don’t count on it.
Russell Brand & Jonathan Ross Scandal
It was one of the biggest stories of the year and it dominated the newspapers for a ridiculous amount of time but you know what? We’re not even going to bore you with the details. We all know what happened, we all think it was a big fuss about nothing and we all couldn't really care less so moving swiftly on.
America Hates Peaches
We love a good anti Peaches Geldof story and this one is probably the best one of the whole entire year. Following her shock marriage to Max Drummey, Peaches upped sticks, moved to New York and bagged a job writing for the culture section of trendy magazine Nylon. Unsurprisingly the regular readers of the mag didn’t taken too kindly to a jumped up 19-year-old writing about their beloved city and as soon as her article went online it was bombarded with lovely comments like, “I don't know whether I should be embarrassed for Peaches, or offended by her.” Aw, shame.
Jennifer Hudson’s Family Murdered
On Friday 24th October it was reported that an FBI hunt was underway to locate the 7-year-old nephew of Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson, after her mother and brother were found shot dead in their Chicago home. Sadly, just three days later, the body of Julian King, the nephew of Oscar winning actress was found dead in a car.
Billie Has A Baby Boy
We’ll never really understand Chris Evans and Billie Pipers bizarre relationship and when she gave birth to her first child at the end of October we were surprised when Chris posted a message on his website revealing the baby's name, despite the fact her husband Laurence, when questioned about the child’s name had already said, "That’s a private moment.” So do you remember what they called the little tyke? Winston James Fox, a particularly normal name for a celebrity child we’re sure you’ll agree.
