Matt Smith Starts Filming Doctor Who…

The new Dr. Who Matt Smith and his new companion Karen Gillan who is playing Amy Pond in costume as they film scenes on the new Doctor Who set with Alex Kingston on location in Wales. UK 20/07/2009

The hotly anticipated new series of Doctor Who started filming in Wales earlier on today.

Newcomer Matt Smith appeared to slip into character with ease when we spotted him shooting scenes with his new companion Amy Pond, who is played by Scottish actress Karen Gillan. Speaking about his new and exciting role Matt said:

“The scripts are brilliant and working alongside Karen, Steven and the rest of the crew is an inspiration because their work ethic and passion for the show is so admirable. I’m excited about the future and all the brilliant adventures I get to go on as the Doctor.”

The fifth series of the cult show hits TV screens next Spring.

Think they're going to have a lot of problems with his hair on windy days! Also, notice the new TARDIS? New size, windows, and signage. Could this be for publicity pictures?

Karen looks absolutly great, i am not to sure about Matt's look though it wil have to grow on me, loving the new TARDIS style great, but i will be so sad to see coral go, but it will be the sane old doctor who and obviosly it will be great.
