Clutching a big bunch of balloons, Alexa Chung left Sweetiepie in New York last night after an evening with fellow Brit Agyness Deyn and a motley crew of Hoxtonites.

But despite her night out with friends in New York yesterday, Alexa recently admitted that she’s found it very hard to connect with people while living in the Big Apple.

"I don't really have any friends in America," she said. "I just don't tolerate douchebags."

Neither do we Alexa, neither do we. Part of the problem, Alexa reckons, is that Americans don’t get her British sense of humour, and often she feels as if her MTV chatshow guests feel slightly insulted by her jibes.

"I'm worried my guests won't like me," she said. "To be honest, it's usually the publicists who are the d**kheads. They get paid to do the dirty work."

The presenter also says she misses her lifestyle in London and her old flat as her new pad in NY is "too shiny". Sounds like someone’s just homesick…

whoah... i've never been to the states but i'm quite sure not everybody there is a douchebag... maybe she just shouldn't look for friends in the hipster scene.

She obviously wanted to boost her career that why she went to America & now she is complaining about it. If she doesn’t connect with people in New York then she should leave! Im sure there are thousands of people who would love her job on MTV!! She should be grateful that she still not for her stuck doing T4. I don't think Americans will take to her comment, cos it looks like she is implying that Americans are douchbags.

Oh my, she certainly is full of herself. Those comments certainly won't win her any friends in N.Y. Sounds like she expected to have everyone falling all over her when she arrived. I do hope she gets homesick enough to go back home.

actually i am american. but my parents n close family are british. n yea...we are total d-bags in comparison. so...sadly it's true. the uk is a much better place to live. i would only visit america if i had a choice.
