Jamie Afro Blames Getting Booted Off X Factor On Poor Song Choices…

Despite the fact that he was kicked off the X Factor last weekend, Jamie “Afro” proved that he was still very popular with the general public when he performed in Rochdale yesterday.

The singer – who was making his first public appearance since leaving the reality show – was cheered on by crowds of adoring fans when he appeared in the city to sing and turn on the The Butt’s Christmas Lights.

But after coming head-to-head with Lloyd Daniels in last weeks show, Jamie reckons he would still be in the competition if Simon, and the programme’s producers, had let him sing better songs.

During an interview with the News Of The World the afro-headed singer said that he was regularly given the wrong tunes to sing as X Factor bosses always struggled to come to terms with his identity as an act.

“You saw how well Sex On Fire by the Kings of Leon went down in my audition” Jamie explained.

“A lot of people who watch the show might not have known the song, because it’s quite edgy, and modern – but it went down brilliantly.

"But they wouldn’t let me do a similar song again. I wanted to do Mr Brightside by the Killers in the rock week but they vetoed it, saying nobody would have heard it… But that was the point – I wanted to try something that not everyone would have heard of, rather than going for the safe option.”

Um, is it just us or is Mr Brightside a pretty famous song which most of us have actually heard of? Anyway, Jamie then went on to conclude that being a “rock singer” was his ultimate downfall:

“I just don’t think they knew what to do with me because there had never been a rock singer on the show before…In the end I wasn’t miserable, but I had lost confidence up there."

Don’t blame the songs Jamie, never blame the songs! Anyway enough of that – who would you like to see getting booted off X Factor this weekend?

Rihanna Dismisses New Romance Rumours...

Wearing a Union Jack jumper *wipes tear of pride from eye*, Rihanna landed at LAX earlier today on the next leg of her tour to promote her new album R Rated.

Yesterday the singer was promoting her album in Atlanta where, during a radio interview, she dismissed recent reports that she’s now dating Beverly Hills 90210 star Tristan Wilds.

"This is funny: I had a house party, and you know how you hold house parties and people come over you don't even know," she said. "He came by, brought his friends, and everyone was hanging out, but I don't even have his number. So I don't know how I could be dating him."

Well that told us then didn’t it. Rihanna also went on to say that despite her troubled relationship with Chris Brown she still has moments where she misses spending time with her now ex-lover.

"There are a lot of ... places that we've been to together, music, different things that come up that are reminders of your ex," she explained. "When (his music) comes on the radio, I don't ... turn it off. I like his music."

The singer also said that for now she has no plans to get into a new relationship.

Oh, it’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from Jennifer Lopez (thankfully). For the last year the star has been concentrating on being a mother to her twins, but after recently starring in a new film Jennifer has decided to make an un-welcome return to the music industry.

On his continuing trip to the UK to promote his new film Me and Orson Welles, we caught up with Zac Efron leaving the Absolute Radio studios in London earlier today where he was being interviewed by presenter Christian O’Connell.

Meanwhile sources close to the High School Musical star have denied recent reports that he and Vanessa Hudgens have split up. The National Enquirer in the US declared in its most recent issue: “Zac and Vanessa Finished — she just doesn’t know it yet.”

But one of Zac’s pals says that the pair are still very much together.

“They spent months together up in Vancouver, where they are both filming movies,” Zac’s friend said.

“Things are going well with them. They are happy.”

All’s well that ends well then…

Last night Alan Carr launched the second series of his chat show with a hilarious interview with none other than Mariah Carey.

Firstly he opened a bottle of the singer’s new champagne, which sprayed everywhere, luckily for Alan the bubbles missed his diva guest because we’re sure she wouldn’t have been laughing if she got drenched.

After his little accident Alan asked Mariah if her recent single, Obsessed was written about Eminem because the rapper reckons it is, Mariah replied:

“Oh my goodness, if he thinks a song called Obsessed, written by me, is about him, whose problem is that?”

Erm, good point!

So anyway, Alan then asked Mariah about her hubby Nick Cannon and whether or not the rumours about them spicing up their relationship with phone sex were true, what do you think she said? She said:

“Now I’ve gotta ask him if he really said that cos, I erm… I don’t know if he really said that.”

Which loosely translated mean, “Nick Cannon’s in trouble.”

Feathers, flower stems, over-sized bows, and corsets – yup, just about every model looked completely ridiculous at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York yesterday.

Especially Heidi Klum, who at one point had to don an ensemble, which looked so laughable that we’re actually finding it quite difficult to describe exactly what it was that she was wearing.

Anyway, elsewhere at the yesterday’s catwalk show we spotted the Black Eyed Peas (who were performing) and Miranda Kerr -who was wearing half a tree by the looks of it…

Last night Pete Tweeted:

“I know a lot of you have asked me about my thoughts on I'm a celeb but unfortunately this year I haven't seen it.”

Really? Why not? He explained:

“I do love the show but once kids in bed I hit the gym (at home), or like tonight was working.”

How Many Screenings Can One Film Have?! New Moon Arrives In New York…

There is nothing left to tell you about the new Twilight movie, the subject has been well and truly exhausted.

So this is all we’re going to say; there was a screening in New York last night at Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema and most of the film’s cast turned out for it, as well as the likes of Agyness Deyn and Kanye West's girlfriend Amber Rose.

Now on a more serious note please god let this be the last time we have to write about this movie, we’re actually losing the will to live.
