It probably won’t surprise you to learn that along with Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones, Paula Abdul has now been axed from X Factor USA as well.

What will surprise is that Simon didn’t tell Paula she’d been fired himself, he got a lawyer to do it instead.

The former American Idol judge was personally recruited by Simon for the US version of the programme, so we imagine the news came as quite a shock to her.

It’s thought that Cowell has already found replacements for the three outgoing stars. Meanwhile Paula's people are hastily knocking together a press release as we speak...

Steve Jones & Nicole Scherzinger axed from X Factor USA…

You probably won’t be surprised to hear that Steve Jones will not be having his contract renewed when X Factor USA returns for a second season.

Last night the reality TV host Tweeted:

“I won’t be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I can’t complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.”

Aw, we bet he’s gutted.

Meanwhile the Fox network have also confirmed that Nicole Scherzinger will not be returning for the second series, although it’s still not 100& clear why.

Rumour has it the 33-year-old singer wants to focus on her music career and she found it a challenge to juggle both when X Factor consumed most of her time.

Oooh, who do you think Simon will get to replace her? We think Cheryl might be free.

After publicly sacking Cheryl Cole from X Factor USA last year, Simon Cowell has claimed he would be more than happy for her to return to the UK version of the show when it returns later this year.

He said – in a statement which would no doubt throw fear into Tulisa and Kelly’s heart - “She could be a panellist again if she wanted to - 100 per cent.”

The music mogul then joked, “I think she probably misses me.”

He also revealed, “I regret what happened because Cheryl was a close friend. I've always believed we'll end up doing something together again.”

Meanwhile, Simon has reportedly angered ITV bosses after he admitted he ‘hadn’t decided’ if any of last year’s judging panel would return for the new series.

A inside source told the Daily Mirror, “It isn't Simon's decision - he has overstepped the mark.”

Simon overstepped the mark? NEVER!

We dread to think how many cans of hairspray the Little Mix girls get through in one evening; their dressing room must be like haze of toxic, flammable gass.

And since leaving X Factor their hairdos seem to have got only more elaborate and also much bigger. Bandmember Perrie Edwards debuted an impressive looking high quiff when she stepped out last night with the girls for a charity gig, while Jesy Nelson’s hair was in danger of venturing into Lion’s mane territory.

If their barnetts get bigger as their careers do, there won’t be enough space for them all to fit onstage…

Earlier on today Marcus Collins Tweeted, “I'm delighted to announce you can now pre order my debut album out 12th March.”

Wow, that was a fast turnaround; didn’t X Factor finish a few weeks ago? That doesn’t bode well for quality material, does it?

Marcus then added, “Been working none stop!!! I had to make sure it was right!! Hope u guys love it! I do! X”

Seriously though, what’s the rush? We don’t get it. Was he really keen to corner the Mother’s Day market or something? We can’t think of any other logical reason why he would choose to release his debut album so soon.

Okay, maybe it’s not all bad; apparently Marcus’ mentor, Gary Barlow has been involved in the song-writing process, which can only be a good thing, right?

Well, unless of course you count that rubbish song Gary wrote for Matt Cardle, but hey, let’s not go there.

Er, good luck Marcus, we can’t wait to hear what you have to offer!

We weren’t too sure what to think when Olly Murs was announced as one of the co-presenters of Xtra Factor, but he actually did a pretty good job fronting the show and proved popular with viewers – or at least more popular than Konnie Huq (which isn’t hard).

Now, however, we hear that Olly isn’t too sure if he wants to return to the next series of the programme if he’s asked to because he’s worried about being “typecast”.

‘I'm not saying 'no' and I'm not saying 'yes'. We'll see what happens’ said Olly during a new interview, adding:

"Presenting is always a tricky one because the more you do it, the more you get typecast as a presenter and I'm not a TV presenter, you know? I want to continue doing my singing, but we'll see what happens next year."

Hmmmm: “I want to continue doing my singing” – it’s almost like a threat isn’t it?

Little Mix fans NOT impressed with debut video...

When Little Mix unveiled their new video for Cannonball they were instantly met with a barrage of criticism from disgruntled fans.

Traditionally, the video for the X Factor winner’s single features a montage of their best moments during the show, along with some new footage, but that’s not the case this time and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“They said on Xtra Factor they enjoyed filming the video, did they lose it?” said one fan, while many others echoed their sentiments.

In short there’s no new footage, just clips from the show and the girls singing Cannonball during the X Factor final. Bit cheap, but hardly worth making a fuss about. What do you think?

If we sat you down and asked you to name each member on Little Mix we bet you couldn’t do it. We know we couldn’t.

We’d probably get Jesy Nelson, Perrie something or other and then our minds would go blank. Sorry girls.

Thankfully Perrie Edwards (ah, that’s it!) has decided to remedy this little problem by christening each lovely lady with a nickname.

So from this day forth Perrie will be known as 'Boho', Jesy will go by 'Swagger Mix', Jade is 'Cutie Mix' and Leigh-Anne is 'Fier'y – Got it? No? Okay, one more time; Boho, Swagger Mix, Cutie Mix and Fiery.

Er, we think Jesy, Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jade might be easier to remember and speaking of which we caught up with the X Factor champs arriving at The Sun Military Awards in London last night.

Don’t they look lovely?
