Early Life

Jake Wood was born on July 12, 1972, in Bettendorf, Iowa. He used to play football for Pleasant Valley High School and after high school, he played for the Wisconsin Badgers but his career stopped due to a shoulder injury.

He studied real estate/urban land economics and political science at the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 2004.

Career Highlights

After Jake Wood’s graduation from the University of Wisconsin in 2004, he joined the US Marines and went to Iraq War in 2007. After the Iraq War, he was promoted to a lance corporal and worked with twelve infantrymen in al Anbar Province.

Jake wrote a blog about his experiences which gained him attention. In 2008, he was deployed to Afghanistan and was promoted to the rank of sergeant before his discharge in 2009.
