Early Life

Devlin is the youngest among four children to his parents Aquinas and Patricia Devlin. She grew up in Northern Ireland with her parents and three older brothers, Aaron, Gavin, and Jason. Devlin attended an Irish-language preschool in County Tyrone, and later joined Drumragh Integrated College to study for her GCSE.

Before joining the X Factor in 2011, Devlin’s only experience as a singer or performer was school and later when she sang at local pubs. She also recorded a number of videos for YouTube showing her performances during this time in her career.

Career

In 2011, Devlin recorded a song to audition for the X Factor, where she sang Elton John’s “Your Song”. The audition was approved by judges Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland, Louis Walsh, and Tulisa, allowing her to proceed to boot camp. Having succeeded in the bootcamp, Devlin progressed to the next stage, Kelly Rowland’s “Girls” edition which featured women aged 16-24.

Devlin made it to the X Factor live shows where in week-one she performed Coldplay’s Fix You. Just Kelly Rowland put her through to the next stage as here was no public vote involved at that stage.

Devlin received the highest number of public votes in four consecutive weeks of the live shows (weeks 2-5). Afterwards, she lost votes and ended up at the bottom with Misha B, another contestant who subsequently succeeded Devlin.

Devlin was eventually voted off by judges Walsh and Tulisa with Rowland abstaining and Barlow not being allowed to participate in the vote. Voting statistics released after the show had ended revealed that Devlin received a higher number of public votes than Misha B, suggesting that Misha would have been eliminated instead of Devlin had the result gone to a deadlock.

After being eliminated from X Factor, Devlin started performing at venues across the UK. As a fifth-place contestant, Devlin was eventually included in the 2012 X Factor Live Tour, which included performances in cities all over the UK and Ireland.

Devlin posted a video on her YouTube channel revealing that she is a recovering alcoholic, but has been sober since 2014. She also explained that she struggled with low self esteem and loneliness during her time on the X Factor.

Devlin has come out as bisexual. She is not currently dating anyone.
