Kendra Scott was born Kendra Baumgartner on March 27, 1974, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. When Kendra was 16 years old, she and her family moved to Houston, Texas. She finished her high school education at Klein High School. She then enrolled and studied for a year at Texas A&M University because of a boy.
Kendra first made pieces of jewelry in Texas before she opened the Hat Box which was her first business. The Hat Box sells comfortable but stylish hats for women who are going through chemo. She donated a portion of Hat Box’s income to cancer research.
Kendra Scott founded her company Kendra Scott LLC in 2002 after she gave birth to her first child. Her designs were used as accessories during the Oscar de la Renta’s spring runway show 2006. Her designs also appeared during Randolph Duke’s 2007 runway show.
In 2008, her company was affected by a financial crisis and she almost closed her company because of this but because of Nordstrom’s orders, she expanded her business instead.
