Early Life

Stanley Kirk Burrell, famously known as MC Hammer was born on the 30th of March, 1962 in Oakland, California, USA. His father’s name was Lewis Burrell, he worked as a warehouse supervisor for many years. Hammer’s family’s life got nearly ruined due to gambling done by his father as he was a professional poker player.

The eight children along with Hammer were raised by their mother alone and they spent the early ages of their lives in poverty.

Outside the Oakland Coliseum parking lot, the 11 years old Hammer used to sell stray baseballs. He also danced at that place supported by a beatboxer.

MC Hammer was hired as a batboy by Oakland Athletics baseball team owner, Charles O Finney as he had seen him dancing outside the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
