Mukesh Bansal was born on September 06, 1975, in Haridwar, India. He grew up in a family of doctors and was always interested in entrepreneurship and technology.

Mukesh studied his early education at DAV Public School in Dehradun. In 1997, he finished a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi).

Career Highlights

After Mukesh finished college, he was employed at Deloitte in Chicago. He worked there as a system analyst for 2 years.

In 1999, he moved to the Bay Area and started a job portal with a friend but it didn’t become successful so they eventually gave up.

Mukesh then worked at eWanted, Centrata, NexTag, newScale which are all startup businesses in Silicon Valley. His responsibilities in the said startups included as an engineer and product manager across technology and business enterprises.

In 2007, the experience that he gained when he worked at Silicone Valley, it pushed him to start Myntra with Ashutosh Lawania and Vineet Saxena. Myntra was a startup business personalizing gifts for customers. Eventually, Myntra became a fashion e-commerce business.

In 2014, Myntra was bought by Flipkart for $330 million. It was the largest e-commerce purchase so far in the history of all India. Mukesh continued as the chairman of the board of Myntra and he managed the commerce and advertising platform until 2016.
