Nana Patekar was born Vishwanath Patekar in the Raigad District of Maharashtra on January 1, 1951. His father was a textile businessman named Gajanan Patekar, and his mother was Nirmala Patekar.
He completed his school education from Samarth Vidyalaya in Maharashtra and then carried on to a Commercial Arts Diploma from Sir J.J Institute of Applied Arts situated in Mumbai.
Nana Patekar was active in inter-collegiate dramatics during his college years. He starred in several Bollywood movies after graduation. A notable thing about him is that he worked with the most prominent film directors of Bollywood.
