She was raised in a very conservative and shielded environment and she was not allowed to do makeup or to date. In Los Angeles, she attended Buckley School and finished elementary school education. She got her high school education at Marywood-Palm Valley School in California. Because of her rebellious youth, she was sent to boarding school where was physically and emotionally abused. She later dropped out but got a GED certification.

She traveled frequently as a child, living in Beverly Hills, the Hamptons, and Manhattan.
