Early Life

Timmy Cappello was born in White Plains, New York, United States on May 3, 1955. His father was of Italian descent and worked as a local conductor and also music teacher while his mother was Jewish and is a housewife. He is the youngest among three children in the family.

Capello dropped out of high school when he was 15 years old and he went to the New England Conservatory of Music to play drums and keyboards. He then learned how to play saxophone from Lennie Tristano.

Career Highlights

Tim Cappello played the saxophone for Peter Gabriel’s self-titled album as an audition to touring with Gabriel. In 1978, Capello toured with Garland Jeffreys and played saxophone and keyboards during the tour.

Capello struggled with heroin addiction and after he recovered from it, he started bodybuilding in 1980. That same year, Capello toured with Carly Simon.

In 1981, Capello made his own pop band in New York which he called “The Ken Dolls” where he oftentimes performs in a g-string.

In 1984, Capello played the keyboard and the saxophone for the famous Tina Turner. Capello recorded and toured with her for a few years. You can hear Capello’s work when you listen to Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and “One of the Living”.

In 1993, Capello played the saxophone for the soundtrack album What’s Love Got to Do with It and he also had vocal parts. He then became a member of Tina Turner’s All-Starr Band.

Due to Capello’s height and appearance, he was noticed in the tv and film industry. In 1987, he took part in a musical performance in the film The Lost Boys where he both sang and played saxophone.

As an actor, he was seen on tv shows like The Equalizer, Miami Vice, Hearts of Fire. and Tap.

Capello also played the saxophone for the Netflix variety show The Break with Michelle Wolf in a segment called “Saxophone Apologies”.

In 2021, Capello was made an appearance on Netflix’s “Worn Stories” where he shared about his relationship to his codpiece.
