Tia-Clair was born to Brendan Toomey and Debbi Toomey on 22nd July 1993 in Nambour, Queensland Australia. She has gained popularity as the ‘Fittest woman on Earth’. She also has 2 sisters but she has not disclosed their names.
Along with her sisters, Tia was brought up by her parents at a cane farm in Dunethin Rock on the Sunshine Coast along the Maroochy River. After completing her primary education in Queensland, she moved with her family to Weipa where she studied at Western Cape College. She completed her college in 2009 from Townsville Grammar School and moved to Brisbane, to study nursing at Queensland University of Technology. She didn’t develop any interest in nursing, so she decided to leave the university after six months and shifted to Gladstone.
In her school, Tia had participated in sports events as a runner. She continued practicing as a runner in 400m long races when she moved to Gladstone.
While practicing as a runner, Tia was introduced to CrossFit Open by her future-husband Shane Orr in 2013. CrossFit games is an annual athletic competition in which athletes from all over the world compete in different games but she couldn’t qualify in her first attempt. After two hard year’s training and weight lifting Tia finally qualified for CrossFit in 2015. She didn’t just qualify but stood runner up. She was named Rockie of the year. She worked harder and qualified again the next year but unfortunately as a runner-up. This event changed her life.
Tia won her first CrossFit in 2017 when she defeated Kara Web by two points. Since then Tia has won five consecutive CrossFit titles (from 2017 to 2021) and earned to be the Fittest Woman on Earth.
Tia made her debut in Olympics in 2016 in Rio De Janeiro. She participated in the 58kg women’s category and ranked 14th in the world. She then represented Australia in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 and brought the Gold Medal home. She has also won the Silver medal for Australia in the Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games.
Owing to her hard work and success in less than a decade, Tia has written a book titled “How I became the fittest woman on Earth: My Story So Far” to inspire women globally.
