Michael Vazquez was born in the year 1983 in St.Petersburg, Florida, USA to his mother Anabelle Vazquez. He was raised alongside his sister Mo and his brothers Chris and Gershwin Mason. Growing up, Vazquez was a great kid but his life took a drastic turn after his parents decided to end their marriage while he was in high school. The divorce affected Vazquez’s self-confidence and the absence of his father to turn to for assurance eventually plunged him into a life of drug abuse and wild partying.
It is safe to say Vazquez stumbled onto a fitness career. In an interview with Men’s Health, he admits that he often made fun of people that spent loads of time in the gym trying to stay fit. His turning point came in the year 2009 when his son was born. Vazquez admits that he had the urge to get his life together and be a good role model for his son. Starting at 245lbs Vazques began running, eating healthier, and completely quit alcohol consumption.
Naturally, Vazquez had no prior experience with fitness and stuck to what he was comfortable with, to begin with. He eventually found the confidence to reach out to friends to help him in his fitness journey. He was able to lose 60lbs within 6 months and the results made him more motivated. Vazquez was still wrapping his mind around his new fitness journey and exploring more workout options when he stumbled across a mud race with obstacles.
In preparation for his competition, Vazquez created a new training routine that included running, high endurance body movements, and interval training. The preparation motivated Vazquez to create his hybrid and popular training routines. He then joined Instagram and began sharing his never-before-seen workout routines and quickly blew up within the fitness community.
Michael has since landed numerous sponsorships, worked with reputable fitness gurus, and created a YouTube channel where he shares his workout routines with thousands of fitness enthusiasts. He also has a website with numerous programs for anyone looking to get fit. Vazquez may appear to have reached any fitness enthusiasts’ goal but he continues to push himself further venturing into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA.
