Dion Marquise Hayes was born on November 25, 1995, in Detroit, Michigan. Interestingly, the numbers ‘42’ in Dugg’s name is a reference to a local group known as the Hustle Boys, who are a Detroit branch of the 42 Gangster Crips of Los Angeles. At the early age of 15, he was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison on account of carjacking. In an unfortunate turn of events, a fight with an inmate extended his prison time to a total of six years. The rapper joined numerous colleges but never got around to finishing high school.
Dugg met Lil Baby, the rising rapper, for the first time in 2017.
