Cheyne was born on September 6, 1970, in Melbourne, Australia. From a young age, he showed a passion for music and writing. He started playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 12 and began performing at local pubs and clubs when he was just 16 years old.
Cheyne Coates is not only a singer but also a great choreographer. She performed during album launches and fashion shows. She then met the producer, Andrew Van Dorsselaer. They then worked as Madison Avenue, as writers and producers. Their first single is entitled “Fly” and it was a huge success for them. Coates represented the band although Madison Avenue was initially planned to be a collective dance group.
In 2003, Madison Avenue disbanded and Cheyne started working on her solo album which she called Something Wicked This Way Comes. She also worked with the Aperitif record label in that same year.
