Sarah Harding was given the name Sarah Nicole Hardman on her birth on November 17, 1981, in Ascot, Berkshire. She has two half-brothers and the family moved to Stockport after the separation of her parents. She got her education from Hazel Grove High School and Stockport College.

She worked as a waitress, van driver, debt collector, and BT telephone operator to earn money. She also performed at pubs, social clubs, and caravan parks where she polished her talent as a singer before auditioning for UK reality TV shows. She tried for a part in Fame Academy and Popstars: The Rivals and got accepted in the latter.

Harding competed on the British TV show Popstars: The Rivals and through popular vote, joined the girl group Girls Aloud. The group shared with the world their debut single “Sound of the Underground” in 2002 that instantly topped the UK Single’s Chart. All in all, the group released five studio albums and got nominated for five BRIT Awards before disbanding in 2013.

Harding signed a modeling deal with Ultimo lingerie for which she made £100,000. Her acting debut was in the thriller Bad Day for which she wore a brunette wig.
