Early Life

Phipps is originally from Trinidad and Tobago but moved to Quebec, Canada. He joined several Christian-based institutions for his high school and college education.

Phipps attended Kingsway College in Ontario but later moved to Alabama in the US where he joined a Seventh Day Adventist College in Huntsville.

Having attained a Bachelor of Arts in theology, Phipps went to Berrien Springs, Michigan to study for a Master of Divinity degree at Andrews University, a Seventh Day Adventist university.

Having received his Masters Degree, Phipps became a pastor and served at several churches in Washington DC. He has served as senior pastor at Seabrook Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Capital Hill Seventh-Day Adventist Church among other places.

Career

Phipps recorded his first gospel album in 1979 titled I Give You My Life. This was followed by The Neo-Gospel Experience (1982). He has since recorded and published over 30 albums including compilations and live albums.

Phipps’ pastoral career started in Washington DC after he finished his Master’s Degree at Andrews University in Michigan. He regularly sings in church and has been requested to dingbat important national events. Most notably, Phipps has performed for american presidents like Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.

He was also invited to perform at National Prayer Events for George W. Bush and Barrack Obama. Phipps performed at the 1984 and 1988 Democratic National Convention.
