Healy was born on October 10, 1981, in Thurles in Tipperary County in Ireland. Irish athlete Paul Hession is her cousin and country singer Declan Nerney is her uncle. At the age of nine, Healy was a national swimming champion in Ireland. She has also worked as a medical secretary and studied nursing and primary teaching at Mary Immaculate College. She gave up all of this to pursue her true passion for music at 23 years of age

Una Healy competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, coming in 10th overall. In 2007, she auditioned for a spot in the five-member girl group “The Saturdays” and got selected. As part of The Saturdays, Healy made four studio albums all of which were featured on UK Top Ten’s list. The group ventured on many tours, all the while releasing singles from their albums, before going on a hiatus in 2014.
