Tripathi was born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on 14 December 1984 to Narendra and Neelam Tripathi. She has a brother named Aishwarya and a sister named Priyanka. Her basic schooling is from Nutan College and Bhopal. Then she went on to do a mountaineering course from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi.
