Dorothy LeMay was given the name Dorothy Staten Alder at birth by her parents. She was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1954, in Los Angeles, California which is considered the Mecca of actors and actresses. It was perhaps this close proximity to Hollywood that inspired LeMay to pursue a career in acting. However, her family later moved to Dayton, Ohio where LeMay was raised and where she ultimately met her husband, Lee LeMay.
Before launching her career in adult movies, LeMay worked as a secretary at the University of California, Berkeley in the late 1970s. It was during this time that she first answered an ad in the Berkeley paper titled “Make $300 a day”, this was the ad that introduced her to the world of adult movies.
LeMay is credited in more than 40 adult movies with the first one recorded in 1977 called House of Green Desire. She followed that up with multiple films in the year 1978, the most famous of which are Blonde Fire, Sensual Encounters of Every Kind and A Formal Faucet, the latter of which made use of her uncanny resemblance with Farrah Fawcett.
LeMay used many alternate names like Norma Gene, Dorothy Lemax, and Desiree Loy while working in the adult movie industry. Some of her other famous roles include Cherry in Memphis Cathouse Blues, R69D69 in Trashi and Barb Adams in High School Memories. Her last credited role is in Blondes on Fire (1987) after which she probably bid adieu to working in the adult film industry and chose a private lifestyle for herself in Southern California where she still resides to this day.
She met her ex-husband whose stage name was Lee LeMay in Dayton, Ohio in the mid 1970s. The couple got married on February 13, 1976 and reportedly did not have any children together, a fact Dorothy regretted. It was with her husband that she returned back to California and he inspired her to start working in adult movies. The pair got divorced, however, but the exact year of their divorce is not known.
During her career as an adult movie star, LeMay has expressed her preference of movies over loops as she felt that movies require her to put more out than loops which is just fast sex.
After saying farewell to her career, Dorothy LeMay started living a life of seclusion in her home state of California. We couldn’t find any social media accounts linked to her which is a testament to her wish to lead a private life away from the public eye.
Dorothy LeMay was inducted in the AVN (Adult Video News) Hall of Fame for her work and contributions to the adult entertainment industry. She will forever be remembered for her racy scenes and raunchy roles in the 1970s and 1980s. Her net worth is estimated to be $ 2.5 million and she’s living a life of luxury in Southern California.
