Robin Hugh Gibb was born in a maternity home in the Isle of Man, England, on December 22, 1949. His parents are Hugh Gibb and Barbara Gibb, and he had an older fraternal twin brother named Maurice Gibb, who was born 35 minutes ahead of him.

Gibb also had two brothers named Andy and Barry and one sister named Lesley. In Manchester, these children were known as amateur burglars and were known to set up fires in the neighborhood.

The Gibb family was known to be musically inclined, with their father being the leader of the band. The two boys were encouraged to perform in a band at a young age.

The Gibb family moved to Brisbane, a city in Australia, in 1958, where the twin brothers found a career as hosts of a television show.

In 1963, they produced and released their first single with a three-part harmony as their trademark. They formed a band as lead vocalists with Beatles as the inspiration of their genre, such as English rock. The twin brother wrote most of the songs that became popular.

Career

In Manchester, the Gibb brothers formed a band named Rattlesnakes in 1955. Robin was the lead vocalist together with Maurice, while the other brother was assigned as the guitarist. The band became quite popular in the city of Manchester.

However, the team disbanded, and the family traveled through the ship in Australia and met Red Symons, who was a popular musician in Australia.

The family moved to Queensland in 1958 and named their band Bees Gees. In 1960, the band made their first appearance on television and performed “Time is Passing By” at Desmond Testers’ show. They also released their first debut single and started to receive the attention of the crowd.

In 1969, Robin left the band and started pursuing his solo career, the same day that Bee Gees released a song recording entitled “Tomorrow, Tomorrow” without Robin. Gibb, as a solo artist, was a success, and he released songs in the UK. Later in 1970, Bees Gees announced their comeback, and they recorded a song entitled “Lonely Days” that became a top hit in the US Billboard.

Gibb was married to Molly Hullis, an organization secretary, in 1968. They had two kids named Melissa and Spencer. In 1980, the couple announced their divorce, and Gibb resided in the United States. Gibb was arrested for breaching a court order in line with his divorce.

In 985, Gibb had his second marriage with an author, Dwina Murphy. The couple has one offspring named Robin-John. After years, Gibb had an affair with his young maid for 8 years and resulted in his fourth offspring, Snow Gibb.

Death

In 2011, Gibb was diagnosed with colorectal cancer that had  metastasised to his liver. In early April 2012 he was diagnosed with pneumonia and went into a coma which lasted until the end of April. In May of that year he lost his life due to kidney failure. It was fasly reported that he had passed as a direct result of his cancer. One June 8th of 2012 he was laid to rest in Thame, Oxfordshire.
