Early Life

Hamm was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 10, 1971 to Deborah and Daniel Hamm. He traces his family roots to Germany, Ireland and England. He became a child of divorce at an early age and lived with his mother until her death from colon cancer. He then relocated to Normandy, Missouri with his father and grandmother.

Our heart-throb was interested in acting as a child. He took up various roles in the first grade as well as in high school and was cast in a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at college. While studying at the University of Texas, he was involved in an unfortunate hazing incident for which he entered a plea deal and the charges were dismissed in 1995.

The start of the journey wasn’t smooth for our leading man, though. He had to take up all sorts of job to make ends meet such as waiting tables and teaching acting at his own high school. But it was all for the best once he landed the role of Don Draper on the hit AMC show Mad Men out of 80 other actors who showed up for auditions. His subsequent roles as guest appearances on comedy series like Tina Fey’s 30 Rock, Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, Amy Poehler’s Parks and Recreation and Ellie Kemper’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt proved his versatility as an actor and a performer.

After proving his mettle on the small screen, Hamm turned to films with his debut in the commercially successful science fiction feature The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008). He has starred in a number of other films like The Town (2010) with Ben Affleck, Bridesmaids (2011), Baby Driver (2017), Tag (2018) and Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) which have received mixed reviews from critics and audience alike.

Personal Life

Hamm had been involved with fellow actress and screenwriter Jennifer Westfeldt for the long duration of 1997 to 2015. He acknowledges that after spending 18 years with Westfeldt, she was more than a girlfriend to him. They even have a production company together called the Points West Pictures.

Outside of acting, Hamm is quite the sportsman as well with an interest in golf and tennis. He has supported his hometown St. Louis’ hockey and baseball teams and done voice work for a number of sports documentaries. He is also the voice actor behind the famous Mercedes Benz’s S400 Hybrid campaign and the American Airlines hit television commercial “Change is in the Air.”

Social Media

Unfortunately for his fans, currently Hamm is not on any social media sites. Even though we didn’t expect him to be a social media recluse based on his charming on-screen presence, he has expressed his wish to keep his private life to himself away from the public eye.

Jon Hamm is wildly popular as a sex symbol and what else could have added to his charisma than a net worth amounting to $40 million. When we are not swooning to his angry young Don Draper, we’re laughing with him on late night television shows where he dexterously makes his way into our hearts.

Jon Hamm has sometimes been associated with other Actors such as Dorothy LeMay.
