Piper Lisa Perabo was born on October 31st, 1976 in Dallas, Texas to parents George William Perabo, a poetry lecturer at Ocean County College, and Mary Charlotte who worked as a physical therapist. Her name was inspired by 50s actress Piper Laurie. She was raised in Toms River, New Jersey alongside her younger brothers Noah Perabo and Adam Perabo. She is of English, German, Irish, and Norwegian descent.
Piper attended Toms River High School North before graduating in 1994. She then enrolled at the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre in the year 1998. While pursuing her degree, Piper simultaneously attended the Trinity La Mama Performing Arts program.
Just one year short of graduating college, Piper was noticed by casting director Denise Fitzgerald. She had simply been accompanying her boyfriend whom she was visiting in New York to an audition when Denise asked her to read for a part. Although she did not get the role, Denise recommended her to an agent.

She proceeded to appear in the films Cheaper by the Dozen,’ ‘The I Inside,’ ‘The Prestige,’ and ‘Edison.’ In 2008, Piper returned with a co-starring role in the family comedy ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Later that year, she made her debut on off-Broadway with Neil LaBute’s play ‘Reasons to Be Pretty.’
Looking to find a new opportunity to embark on once the play was done, Piper began reading numerous movie scripts but found it hard to relate to any of the characters. At the suggestion of her agent, Piper considered a role in TV and opted to read the USA Network spy drama series ‘Covert Affairs’ script. She was intrigued by the lead role of Annie Walker as the character radiated power, intelligence, and intensity.
In 2009, Piper was cast as the lead role in the television series drama Covert Affairs as CIA agent ‘Annie Walker.’ The series was a huge commercial success and ran for an entire five seasons. Her acting in the series was received greatly by critics and she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Actress in a Television Series Drama.
