Vijay was born on June 22nd, 1974. His father was already associated with Tamil Cinema, working as Director and his mother was a playback singer. Vijay didn’t get all the luxuries and even the basic necessities of life adequately. His Mother Shobha used to sing in concerts for INR 100 daily wage. On that food, Vijay and his family have food to eat. Vijay had a sister Vidhya who died when she was two years old. This has affected Vijay deeply. Later when he opened his Production house, it was named V.V Production, Vidya- Vijay Productions.
Vijay Initiated his film career by playing a child role in Vetri (1984), followed by a series of Tamil movies in a similar role. His first salary as a child actor was INR 500. His first lead role was in 1992 in the movie “Naaliyan Theerpu”.
In 1996, he was featured in “Poore Unakkaga” which ultimately became his first critically acclaimed performance and opened the road to stardom for him. He has worked in approximately 65 movies and some movies are currently in pipeline.
