Keanu was born in Beirut Lebanon to parents Patricia and Samuel Reeves. Keanu’s mother is of English descent while his father is a Hawaiian native with Chinese, Irish, and Portuguese ancestry.
Reeves’ mother had moved to Beirut for work where she met the man who would eventually become his father. Reeves’ father abandoned his mother when he was 3 years old, and Reeves has stated in interviews that the last time he saw his father was in Kauai, Hawaii when he was 13. His mother moved to Australia where they lived briefly before relocating to New York in 1970. Reeves’ mother married a Broadway director and moved the family to Toronto for a year before divorcing again.
