Im Se-mi was born on the 29th of May 1987 in Seoul, South Korea. She attended Jinseon Girls High School before proceeding to further her education at the Dongduk Women’s University.
Im began her career at the age of 17 when she was cast in the K-drama TV series ‘Sharp 2’ in 2005. Her appearance caught the attention of fans and producers jump-starting her now successful career.Following her appearance on the show, Im was cast in the film ‘Highway Star’ portraying Chairman Choi’s daughter. Im has since appeared in successful productions such as ‘Pure Pumpkin Flowers,’ ‘Heartstring,’ ‘The King’s K Daughter Soo Baek-Hyang,’ ‘Two Cops,’ ‘When the Weather is Fine,’ and ‘True Beauty.’ When asked about her experience working on the hit show ‘True Beauty,’ Im admitted that it was a breath of fresh air not portraying a villain as she often received hate for previous roles which may be a gauge of her exceptional acting skills. The show also saw Im’s character experience a romantic relationship and the on-screen chemistry between Im and Han Joon Woon had fans on their toes.
